hexar af sharp lens!

This was taken with the super silent Hexar AF film camera which has one of the best 35/2 lenses I've come across with exceptional sharpness wide open. Unfortunately, this lens is not available as a separate lens, only as the permanent lens on the Hexar AF. The Hexar AF uses an advanced IR auto focus mechanism, which will revert to the hyperfocal distance if it can't resolve the returned IR signal.

This photo was taken in Aperture priority mode, at F2, indoors, handheld with expired Fuji Realia 100 film. The shutter must have been 1/15th or so, but is a quiet stepless electronic shutter.

No edits were made to the photo at all except for a slight crop (about 1/4 of the top section). The meter which measures about 12% of the photo area in P and A modes, and 5% spot in manual mode is extremely accurate, possibly more accurate than my Leica M6 meter - where none of the images on this roll needed any post processing exposure correction.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Taken on Nov. 17, 2007, at around 8:30pm at the Pigeon Point lighthouse (http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=533) . I arrived here late, due to heavy fog, just after the light was to be shut off (8pm), but fortunately, they kept the light on. I thought the light was going to shut off any second, so I didn't setup my tripod and cable release, but hand held an M6 with 35/2 ASPH wide-open for 5-10 seconds with Kodak 800 film. Most of the photos have some hand held motion blur, but a few like this one came out OK.

There was also a half moon to the upper right that I captured in a few shots, I may post them later, I ended up going through about 3 rolls of film, and a few dozen digital camera snapshots.

Looking up at an old building

This old building is in San Mateo on B Street near the railroad tracks. The lens was the Summicron 35/2 ASPH stopped down on a Leica M4P with Fuji 400 film. This lens is sometimes considered to have a "clinical" look to it, compared to the older Summicrons, but in this photo, I like the sharpness, contrast, and natural color rendition that the lens and film produced.
